I have become obsessed...
I get up every morning and immediately head to the bathroom to pee. As soon as that's done, I jump on the scale, holding my breath until those digital numbers settle down to today's current weight....am I up? am I down? Yay! I'm down!! In fact, I'm down 14.7 lbs. Yes, I know to the ounce what I weigh. Far too much time is spent each day thinking about my weight and food. Obsessed.

With NutriSystem, you eat 5 times a day. I eat breakfast at 8, lunch at 11:30, a snack at 2:45, dinner at 6, and another snack at 7. I feel like I'm eating non-stop...but I'm down 14.7 lbs.

Scott says he can see it and feel the difference...his arms go around me better. But I went to the store today to buy a new pair of pants and I'm still between sizes. Have to hang out in loose pants for another week or two. *sigh*

I've told Scott that I want to make it a point of not seeing the guys/girls from his job until our annual BBQ in July, along with others that we know and associate with for several weeks. I don't want to see them until I can hear "WOW, you look GREAT!" By July, I should be down at least 40lbs. Woohoo!

Incidentally, after a week of angst and indecision, I changed my start weight to 227, to straighten out the change in scales last week.

I've lost 10 pounds! Yahoo!!
I have been on NutriSystem 2 weeks tomorrow, and have lost 10 lbs! Well, it may be 12...we finally broke down and bought a new scale, and since I weigh in the morning, I won't know for sure until then. Our OLD scale said 12 lbs yesterday and 10 lbs today. Who knows? But whatever the new scale says in the morning is what I'm going with from here on out.

Annnyyyywayyyy...

We had a karaoke party last Saturday here at our house. It was big fun, with about 12 people attending. Perfect size for our house. Lots of great voices. We started about 3 in the afternoon and I finally crawled into bed about midnight, and Scott managed to stay up until 2:30.

My dad had a stroke Saturday night. Apparently, it was minor and they got him to the hospital fast enough that there are no residual effects. Just absolutely firms up our decision to go see him in Florida this summer. We're spending our winter vacation next month in Shreveport, LA gambling for 4 days and then I'll go to my daughter's in Ohio for 4 days. I'll miss my birds, but a few days with my grandson Alex will more than make up for it :)

1st day of my diet
I weigh 223.5 lbs. Now, this isn't grossly obese on me...in fact, most people guess about 180. I've always worn my weight well, and while I'm putting my goal weight at 140, I'll actually be happy with 150. We'll see how it goes.

I ordered my food last week and it got here yesterday. After a final "non-program" meal of Lobster Ravioli and all the bread I could stuff, I bid farewell my old way of life.

So, today I embarked on my new way of life. It will take 8 months to a year to lose the 80 lbs. I want to lose. I had a couple of extreme hunger moments, but got through them without snacking. I drank 7 of the 8 glasses of water I'm supposed to drink, will try harder on that tomorrow.

I actually feel very low-energy....I'm sure that's from the lack of extreme carbs.

A new year, a new diet
When you marry a man that weighs 130 lbs dripping wet, it doesn't take long for what started as "a little overweight" to accelerate to "moderately obese".

I've decided to join NutriSystems. I had joined once about 5 years ago and lost 28 lbs in 3 months. Everyone started telling me how great I looked and as money was getting tight, I quit wayyyy before reaching my goal weight. So, since it worked before (and money isn't as tight), I decided to go with it again, with my ultimate goal being an 84 lb weight loss. I'm not entirely sure how realistic that is since it would take me from 224 lbs to 140 lbs...and I haven't weighed 140 lbs since junior high school!

So, wish me luck as I begin this journey...I figure it will take 6 months to a year to complete!

It's a new year :)
Happy New Years to everyone :)

I have had a wonderful year what with our trip to California and Vegas at the beginning of the year, getting an incredible job with great pay in the spring, getting married in the middle of the summer, and an autumn filled with lots of baby love, as we acquired our cockatiel, two parakeets, two finches (who hatched out three babies a couple of weeks ago and who threw them out of the nest last night) and two parrots.

Christmas was pretty sad as we lost my brother in law on the 17th, but his death created a rebirth of distant family ties.

Truly, as I celebrate my 49th birthday....I am thankful for undoubtedly one of the happiest years of my life :)
