Fish Tales (and other updates)

My dad left May 7, and we immediately left for Oklahoma to see Scott's dad. While we were there, we went fishing on Mother's Day. Now I've been fishing many times, but had never succeeded in landing a fish. I wasn't really thrilled at the idea of spending my Mother's Day on yet another fruitless fishing trip, but there isn't much else going on in Tishomingo, OK, so what the heck.

Scott's dad has a private stocked pond. I've fished that pond before and didn't catch anything. Amazingly, Mother's Day made up for almost every fishing trip I've ever taken! It helped that the fish were cooperating by literally jumping onto my hook...lol.

Here is a picture of the crappie I caught. Scott says it's the biggest crappie he's ever seen. It's being mounted on a plaque for me :)

Here is a picture of one of the bass I caught!

And here is a picture of my total stringer for the day! Woohoo!! I caught all of these fish within about three hours.

I won't be quite so reluctant to go fishing next time! ;)

The birds are all fine, although Ozzie had a case of night frights Wednesday night. At 4 am, I awoke to the sound of a bird hitting the floor and wings fluttering. So I got up to see what was going on and she was on the floor. I tried to pick her up and put her back on her cage, but she literally flapped her way out of my hands...twice! The third time I picked her up, I just held her and stroked her until she calmed down...and then I saw that she was bleeding. She had broken a blood feather...which is a normal feather that gets broken and bleeds. The only recourse is to grab a pair of pliers and pull it out, and then to get the bleeding stopped. So at 4 am, I'm doing minor surgery on my poor birdie. She's fine now, but that was SCARY.

On the weight-loss front, I'm now down a total of 39.5 lbs. I had actually hit 40.2 lbs on May 7, but it came right back, since it had been a 5 lb loss that week. Must have been a fluke, or an error in my scale, but I should see 40 lbs tomorrow and this time it will stay gone, since it's been coming off slowly.

As my reward for the continued weight-loss, and in preparation for our annual BBQ, I signed up for 30 days at a tanning booth. I've had three sessions now, and it's pretty cool seeing my skin get darker. I've never really been a sunbather, so this is a new and exciting experience for me! No cancer in my family, so I don't worry about that, and this isn't something I'm going to do forever.

OK...That's the update for this time!

SO glad you are posting again. I missed you girl!

I've never gone fishing... No even when I was little. My dad used to enjoy that experince when I was a child but not anymore. Maybe I can try that with DH. I seems kind of a relaxing activity.

CONGRATS ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS!

It's an amazing time!

I'm down 41.8 lbs as of this morning and now weigh 174.8 - lower than my lowest ever lapband weight. Lower than my lowest ever Nutrisyst...
